Why weekly matters in central Mississippi
A pool in Madison or Ridgeland lives through long, hot summers, heavy humidity, spring pollen and summer thunderstorms. Warm water burns chlorine fast and gives algae a head start. Skip a week in July and a clear pool can turn cloudy or green before the next weekend. That's why Royal Pool Pros builds every plan around a weekly visit.
Here is the same checklist our technicians work through on every pool. Whether you do it yourself or hire it out, this is the routine that keeps water clear.
The checklist, step by step
Skim first. Leaves, pollen and bugs are easy to lift off the surface and a pain once they sink. Then brush the walls, steps and tile line. Brushing breaks up the thin film algae grows from, and it's the step most people skip. Empty the skimmer baskets and the pump basket next, because a full basket starves the pump of water and cuts your circulation.
Vacuum the floor when debris has settled. Then test the water and balance it. We test free chlorine, pH, total alkalinity, calcium hardness and cyanuric acid, and add chemicals based on the reading, never a guess. Finish by checking the filter pressure, the pump and the water level, and blow off the deck so the wind doesn't put it all right back in.

When to call a pro
If the water keeps going cloudy even though you're adding chlorine, the filter pressure keeps climbing, or you're spending your Saturdays fighting the pool instead of swimming in it, it's time to hand it off. Royal Pool Pros offers weekly and bi-weekly pool maintenance plans across Madison County and north Jackson, with every chemical itemized on the invoice.
